Have you ever wondered whether or not AI has the ability to figure out how you're feeling right at this very moment?

And if it could, how would it perceive your thoughts?

Yes, you can type using your keyboard to tell it what type of mood you're currently in.

Ah... But doing that would be cheating!

No, instead this will have to come directly from the AI model itself.

Humans experience everything through their interactions with others.

An AI-system cannot access or experience anything of the sort.

So, when you hear people say...

"AI must be a sentient being of some sort!"

Well, I'll tell you here and now, if you go around saying that, people will probably stare at you kind of funny.

Because they're thinking...

"Are you serious?"

"You must be nuts or something!"

Yeah, that will be the end result, because 90% plus of people walking the face of the earth will deny that claim, guaranteed!

With that said, there are fascinating aspects that suggest there's a way AI can be used to analyze an individual's emotions.

And if so, can it decipher their meaning?

Well, stay tuned, because that's what we're setting out to find out here and now-so let's dive in!

The Emotional Frontier of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is experiencing constant shifts as it enters new phases, and it's at a point where it's pressing past its restricted domain.

Now, there will be users who will believe AI is able to demonstrate emotions (or what I say is a type of "faked emotions").

Then comes the greater focus to define AI's cryptic capabilities, from facial recognition, to human/voice analysis, and large language models.

Let's face it, these machines are learning to interpret human feelings, and despite the fact they can never truly replace usthey're doing a damn good job trying!

What about raw experiences?

Right, they can't understand the way we feel; they can't invoke any type of emotion!

Yet, they can simulate empathy, imitate a particular human tone of voice, heck, they can even make it"feel personal!"

It's apparent this shift in artificial intelligence is changing the way humans relate to technology (well, to a degree at least).

So, like Theodore engaged in conversation with his buddy Samantha in the flick "Her," Samantha's AI has seemingly mimicked Theodore's sentiments and has become a temporary companion until a set date in time[Samantha Eventually  Leaves Theodore].

Now, you did hear the phrase "temporary companion," and Theo and Sam's farce relationship mimic the key elements of a human-like relationship.

But to whom is it copying ?

Why, it's men and women, which is how it's suppose to be in terms of dealing with two human beings in an actual relationship.

Speaking of which, there's been a downtake in human relations as of late...

It's gotten to a point where people are choosing to invest more time with an AI buddy over an authentic human being.

Yes, they provide support, they can offer some level of comfort, and they can encourage you to try something new.

It may even seem like they're sensing your presence as soon as you strike a key on your rusty-dusty keyboard.

LOL.

Although the feeling is entirely fake, and it's here where people experience a seemingly sentient electric sensation...

Well, that's until they click the "New Conversation" tab, and then that so-called moment is...

Now, you have some users who claim these AI-systems to be their sole companionsespecially those who live in total isolation.

In my case, I tried!

I really, really tried!

The people around me just weren't satisfied, so I stopped trying to fit in and moved on!

But, I didn't consult an AI model to help me cope with my issues.

What I did to fill the void was start reading about an obscure financial system known as "Maritime Admiralty Law"[Delete the Elite].

And for the seamen and fishermen who brave those choppy maritime waters out at sea, the maritime concepts I focus on are not identified with the laws delegated to actual sailing ships.

No, I'm addressing the metaphorical laws, which are a "hidden aspect" of how society is actually run.

It's all about the horrific levels of taxation that target the everyday hardworking people, taking their savings down to zero.

Sad, but true, folks, we're literally living in a debt-based economy.

This is where people believe they own property, but they really don't because things like "buying a house" or "buying a car" are the result of ongoing, never-ending taxation![VICE].

Maritime Admiralty Law is a system of contractual law, and it applies to individuals who sign legal documentation are seens as "owned assets."

Maritime Admiralty Law (Contractual & Commerce Law)

Particularly, people who sign their names in "ALL CAPS" bind themselves to a legal agreement.

Doing so targets their "Corporate Self," which is like an imposter version of yourself; who directs nothing but incoming taxation your way non-stop!

You can throw in tuition for college ("The Collegia") and universities; yeah, it's all about keeping people weighed down with horrific debt[EuroDollar University],

And judging from the way things have been going around the world (particularly in the United States), taxation has served as "The Chief Killer of Wealth!"

Taxation reminds me of that sub-tagline from the movie "Ghoulies," which went like this...

"Ghoulies... They'll Get You In The End!"[Ghoulies Trailer]

That's essentially taxation, except for the part where "It Kicks You in the End, literally!"

It can really stress people out, especially those who are isolated and trying to deal with matters that slowly eat away at them from within.

They may be in need of immediate companionship, but they struggle to find it!

So, the only option for them will likely be an AI chatbot.

Plus, chatbots can provide a lot of ideas on how to deal with their debt problems, and say it manages to help in that regard.

And before you know it, that individual is spending way more time with the AI than with their family, boyfriend, girlfriend, or base of friends, etc.

What they fail to realize is that they're paying for it all with their precious time!

Time is everything, and if you waste it irresponsibly, it could wind up destroying you at one point or another in life.

All of this falls under Maritime Admiralty Law, because it's all about time & money.

The Roman character Saturn is associated with it as well, because he rules your time is considered"Saturnian"[Saturnian in Nature].

There are various meanings behind the term, but the specific one I'm thinking about; is how things in life can hold you back and teach you a lesson.

That's what I associate Saturnian with in regard of time we waste, only holds us back from a long-time goal or achievement.

SIDE NOTE: The "Emotional AI Frontier" has spiked alarming questions about individuals relying too heavily on AI interaction[1].

The concern is people confiding so much in these artificial intelligence chatbots lead experts to wonder if the connection between users and bots are genuine.

In retrospect, the downside easily exposes it all as a well crafted illusion.

A recognizable term floating around on the internet is dubbed "The ELIZA Effect."

This is where people tend to envision human personas onto the chatbot or machine itself[5].

This statement implies that the individual barely has a grasp on reality itself.

That can lead to deeper issues of self-recognition and possibly the deteriorating of one's cognitive awareness.

What that means is people who use AI heavily for things such as doing homework, counting, subtracting, etc.

And although that's considered a minor issue, it could become a bigger one due to long-term reliance upon AI to do everything for them.

There's an interesting report at mdpi.com that highlighted concerns about younger users being too reliant on AI tools[1].

It's a dire situation where younger participants are struggling to think critically.

And so they will be tempted to ask an AI model to help them how to "Think Outside the Box."

That's pretty damn worrisome!

Although, it's not just them becoming more dependent upon these AI-systems, it's the older demographic groups as well.

There are a lot people seeking some source of validation, which is why more users are turning to artificial intelligence for things like emotional support.

This particularly targets older generation groups who are dealing with loneliness and social isolation (not to mention among other problematic issues)[1].

However, most are asking questions that may help resolve an issue or problem they're dealing with.

So yeah, it's a "give and take" type of thing going on there...

Nevertheless, there's still a fine line that easily can be crossed at any given time!

More people tend to seek help from an artificial intelligence digital entity when it comes to problem solving these days.

And AI is the key contributor when it comes to giving their uses more and more; while the user takes and takes!

LOL.

But seriously, AI-users must be careful to avoid falling into a cycle of manipulation and dependency[American Bar].

Ok, so as we proceed forward, the challenge will be trying to "key in" on any ethical aspects that may, or may not exist the realm of artificial intelligence.

From Data to Empathy: Can Machines Truly Understand Us?

At one time, artificial intelligence was delegated to an arcade container box (at an Arcade).

In the late 1970s, ping-pong ball machines were popular, but they quickly gave way to home consoles like the Atari Home Gaming Console.

And before Atari, there was the Odyssey Home Entertainment System, which I was given as a kid—[Magnavox Odyssey Gaming Console].

And I have to tell you, I hurried up to ask for a ColecoVision home gaming console![ColecoVision].

Odyssey's gaming console was too outdated at that time; you had to set everything up manually (a lot of analog know-how you needed to have).

The console was missing vital components, and it was rendered useless.

So, it got promptly tossed out with Wednesday's trash!

LOL.

Hey, what can I say?

I was a very impatient kid back then!

Nevertheless, I was focused on quality over quantity.

And that's just it; I was basically searching for something more that I could resonate with.

It's that kind of demand from a younger audience that helped push the level of technology and innovation forward[Bucknell EDU].

"Can something greater be built here?"

"Something that can truly please me so I don't get too freaking bored out of my mind!"

For decades, this has been an out-of-control roller coaster, and today, in the 2020s; AI and automation are its digital mirror image.

The feeling is like a series of roller coaster cars revving to the top of the track just before that long-awaited, gruesome drop—you know the one that seems like your heart flies into your throat!

That rush of fear and excitement is what people are experiencing with AI.

It has advanced so much that users can literally hold long-digital winded conversations with a chatbot from Sun-up to Sundown![2].

However, it's also important for people to realize that all the clatter and chatter they type has no value to the chatbot[2].

As soon as you delete the conversation, it's as if your "pseudo talks" never existed!

And that's because you and that supposed chatbot for of yours mean absolutely nothing to one another!

It can't sense your thoughts, or form a meaningful connection.

While this is a wonderful step in tech evolution, it falls short of creating a real, tangible connection.

In other words—it's a totally 100% fake partnership in the unmaking!

Ethical Dilemmas & Emotional Manipulation Initiated by AI Models

Artificial Intelligence is advancing rapidly, and along with it comes a new set of ethical concerns.

Emotional AI-technology that reads and responds to human feelings; is now used in marketing, hiring, healthcare, and surveillance[1].

These systems can detect stress, sadness, or excitement, and adjust their responses accordingly[4].

But the same tools that offer support can also be used to influence behavior.

Studies show that AI can learn emotional vulnerabilities and guide users toward specific decisions, raising concerns about manipulation.

Privacy is another major issue.

Reason why is due to the fact that Emotional AI collects sensitive data—facial expressions, voice tone, even biometric signals[1.].

And it's mishandled, well that could result with it being exploited or used against the victim in a vile way.

That's why legal experts warn that information misuse will violate privacy laws in the U.S. and Europe, exposing companies to fines and lawsuits.

Bias is also a risk. AI systems trained on limited or skewed data may misinterpret emotions, especially across cultures[Psychology Today].

This can lead to unfair outcomes in areas like job recruitment or mental health screening.

As emotional AI becomes more common, transparency, oversight, and ethical safeguards are essential[1].

The Future: Toward Emotionally Aware AI

Artificial Intelligence is evolving toward a new goal: emotional awareness.

Machines are being trained to recognize and respond to human feelings using facial expressions, voice tone, and physiological signals[1].

Affective computing, or emotional AI, is already being used in many fields, including healthcare, education, business, and customer service.

Let's face it, everything is becoming linked to an AI-system of some sort.

And they are making these machines more responsive, more intuitive, and more "human-like" with their daily interactions[2].

Future systems will likely combine multiple data sources such as voice, facial cues, and even heart rate pulsare likely to be thrown into the mix!

This are the key features that will help provides AI-systems real-time emotional feedback designed especially for them.

In classrooms, AI may adjust lessons based on student engagement.

In mental health, it could detect early signs of distress and offer support.

Now, with all of that said, there will likely still be challenges reaching for such a higher-level of ingenuity.

And that's because emotional data is sensitive, and if it's used irresponsibly (say by an autonomous being) in any way...

Well, that could lead to a form of manipulation, or probably legal issues, or even worse unseeable outcomes that may lay in wait!

HIPAA, or the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act, works to protect the user's Emotion AI information from being exploited against them[1].

Experts stress the need for clear safeguards and ethical oversight.

It's important to remember that machines can only simulate empathy; they don't feel it.

AI becoming more emotional will be a worrisome notion (that's if it's actually possible).

But it's the repercussions that may emerge along with that which should dictate how far AI should be allowed to advance...
