A Brief Overview of Demolition Man as a Cult Sci-Fi Film
Demolition Man was one of the great classic futuristic movies of the 1990s, and it paints a gritty, hardcore dystopian Los Angeles that fell face-first into turmoil and chaos.
All of which was brought about by the actions of a crime lord madman known as Phoenix.
Tasked to stop this hardcore criminal wasn't just a job for any average LAPD cop who had been on the force for a few years.
No... This was a legend in his own right, one who brought down over 1,000 authentic criminals; deemed the toughest offenders known in America!
His name is Officer John Spartan, and back at the police force, a nickname was crafted and tailored to fit him in every imaginable way that emulates toughness and courage, mixed in with stern truth and justice.
Right, his acquired alias is "The Demolition Man," and he wastes no time chasing after Phoenix - [Phoenix's hideout].
Ah, but Phoenix wasn't an idiot...
Aware that Spartan would eventually track him down, Phoenix meticulously devised a cunning plan to ensnare and destroy him in an utterly unforeseen manner.
By the time Spartan catches up, Phoenix has already triggered his elaborate trap, unbeknownst to the vigilant officer!
The entire dilapidated, hellish building that Spartan forcefully enters has been rigged to frame him as a ruthless murderer.
Phoenix being in that building was obviously orchestrated, except it wasn't done so by Phoenix's hand...
"Wait... What did you just say?"
You heard me right!
Because, the film never fully explains the scene in its entirety.
This leaves a little bit of room for some brief speculation...

Cocteau Needed a Future Enforcer to help Stabilize his Utopia Using An Unlikely Volunteer
So, here's LA that's now under siege!
And there was no action taken on the part of any politician to maintain order.
Ok, so let's just say there's serious corruption hiding in plain sight, and let's toss in a potential candidate who wanted to gain access to political office.
YES...
It's a young Raymond Cocteau, who was promised power and an empire to rule at the request of powerful aristocratic families who secretly run all of society!
However, there's an obstacle...
And that was "Goodie-Two-Shoes" Officer John Spartan, who had to be framed for an unspeakable act that would get him sent away for years on end - [Spartan's dilemma].
Ah... Here's the pesky elemental factor that just constantly gets in the way of everything—Simon Phoenix!
It’s clear that he is covertly complicit in the scheme masterminded by Cocteau.
He agreed to fulfill his role solely in return for a bid of power and prestige to be bestowed upon him some 36 years in the future...
SIDE NOTE: There was one slight sacrifice Phoenix had to make before opting in this deal with Cocteau. He had to have selected areas of his memory sealed for confidentially purposes-this was a safety measure securing the plot's secrecy.
"But why Phoenix, right?"
It's because he was a wildcard, and he had a long list of connections that could help establish Cocteau's ideal metropolis city utopia.
In the meantime, Cocteau could work to secure plans for his envisioned dream; so, all he needed to do was play the role of a politician who pretends to give a damn about his citizens.

An AI Dystopian Transformation of Los Angeles into Cocteau's Utopia San Angeles
Ok, let's start off looking at the bottom of an empty glass...
Yep, that’s exactly where Los Angeles ended up plummeting straight into the abyss!
Remember, there was no more John Spartan to overlook the city.
His primary obligation was to protect it at all costs!
Yet, with crime spiraling to uncontrollable levels, Raymond Cocteau recognized the urgent need to intervene with bold and immediate action!
So, he ranted and railed politically about the crime and the decay that would lead to the utter collapse of three historical cities.
People liked his style, his use of words, and the way he carried himself, and before you know it, he's elected mayor of Los Angeles!
And the first thing he did was to impose a number of enforced laws to manage the crime and filth that was plaguing the city.
Secondly, he opted for the complete construction overhaul of Los Angeles, San Diego, and Santa Monica.
Soon, he literally transformed the complete wreckage of these three cities and merged them into one humongous metropolis he coined as "San Angeles."
But he wasn't done there...
He wanted to make sure there would be no more crime to emerge and destroy these cities ever again!
His citizens rushed to agree with his public outcry; however, he then announced a new way to monitor crime and law enforcement can spring into action wherever it may turn up to neutralize it.
They just looked confused, although enthusiastic, and just continued on smiling harboring feelings of willful glee!!

Cocteau's AI-Like Crime Reduction Tracking Device
The mayor donned a visible smirk on his face, as he then motioned for his servant Bob's-assistance.
Bob walked toward him and handed him a silver bag, and Cocteau pulled out a silver device with a viewable display screen.
He turns the device toward the gathered crowd; their eyes were now dead-locked on the illuminated screen.
He then says...
"See this everyone?"
"It's a tracking device that can locate anyone—AT ANY TIME."
"As you may notice; shown on the device's display screen is where we all stand right now at this very moment." - [Concept Idea for "Tracker" device at >> 2 mins and 27 seconds].
"When I move, you'll notice this small dot on the screen is detecting my pattern of motion."
"That's also not to mention how the device can be attuned to anyone's vital signs."
"So, if anyone decides to commit a criminal act of any kind, then police personnel will be notified immediately."
"The device has an automated talking voice that will report the offender's whereabouts to the pursuing officer until the suspect has been apprehended."
"Therefore, it would be ideal for every citizen living in San Angeles, should be on their best behavior..."
"All residents of San Angeles will be required to sign up for the San Angeles Citizens' Ordinance Program (SACOP)."
"Make sure to stop by your local municipal law enforcement facility to provide your name, driver's license, or city ID, and your current residence."
"Thank you, and have a very merry Joy-Joy Day!"
The citizens, believing what they heard to be a seemingly noble solution, simply nodded their heads and then took their leave from the public gathering.
Although, they fail to understand their noble leader just placed an invisible collar around their necks!
Because he now has the power to track them "via" AI-detection device, without worry of being subjected to answering the city's council members' board.

WHOA... THERE NOW PARTNER!
Well... It's not exactly an old western shootout type of situation here now is it?
LOL.
Nevertheless, that should have prompted residents to ask a number of concerning questions in regard to their privacy (not to mention other rights that apply to them).
Unfortunately, people tend to miss the obvious that's sometimes placed right under their noses—and they will still fail to catch on to any of it!

Was Cocteau Cooking Up A Surveillance AI Society?
So, it looks as if Cocteau is planning on turn his idea, Utopia, into some sort of heavy surveillance CCTV society of sorts.
And what will this be apply to?
- Everyone being forced to be polite to one another.
- No one is allowed to drop a swear word of any kind!
- Citizens will be given an 6 O' clock curfew policy to follow—or face imprisonment and a stiff fine!
- And there is to be "No Legal Contest" against a Public Figurehead or politician—NO MATTER HOW CORRUPT THEY ARE!
Wow! Is this guy for real here?
And what does that mean for his citizens in the future?
Will they be able to speak out about concerning issues at his public meetings, or at San Angeles' City Hall facility?
Take a wild guess there... Yeah, probably not!
So, he's looking to control these people by placing them under his complete rule is what this looks like.
And that includes the use of "AI-Tracking Technology," which scouts out citizens who break even the tiniest of infractions could get them sent to "The Freezer!"
So yeah, there's a creepy twist in all of this...
San Angeles wasn't an improvement. it's really run under a cozy, convenient, but enormously effective citizen encampment!
One where citizen can check in, but they can't leave on their own free will!

Introducing the Concept of Behavioral Engineering—Was AI Secretly Running the Show?
The term itself sounds quite odd, nevertheless, what does “Behavioral Engineering” actually stand for?
Well, it's such an "Off the Wall" term, but after doing some deeper digging; there's some interesting details behind the overall meaning.
In the simplest term or concept, it's all about individuals being manipulated by various AI systems.
Now, before someone jumps up and say...
"There wasn't any AI in the film, they were just programmed to act accordingly by use of suggestive thought input." - [No AI, eh? Wait a minute... What did Phoenix tell the "AI Computer" to do again?]
Ok, fair enough, but that's your opinion about the matter—however, you had to have something to push info into their minds over the next few decades... Right?
So, ask yourself, would a human have any desire to get up every day; making sure they are implanting info into the minds of a huge frozen populace? - ["Behavioral Engineering?"]
Hardly not!
You need a type of intelligence to handle tedious, tiresome, and boring jobs.
So, it's hard to rule out the possibility that Cocteau opted for the task to be carried out by an AI monitoring/audible system.
Having it would free up members of the police force, who could be focused on other important matters rather than sitting there baby-sitting popsicle frozen criminals stuck at the cryoprison!

How Were Cryo Prisoners able to "Learn" During a Deep Freeze?
Alright, now this is a question a lot of people surely are lining up to ask!
So, Los Angeles has this infamous cryoprison facility, where guys like Simon Phoenix and John Spartan are frozen within a block of ice and remain that way for whatever sentence was imposed upon them.
Now, it’s worth shedding light on some critical context regarding the condition of the prisoners while in cryogenic suspension, as John Spartan himself astutely pointed out.
Spartan, along with Lieutenant Huxley, was invited to a dinner at Taco Bell of all places...
As laughable as it might seem, the humor quickly faded when Mayor Cocteau joined the gathering, accompanied by Huxley and Spartan.
At one point, Cocteau makes the mistake of stating how crime has fallen completely out of obscurity.
Spartan, however, wasn't the slightest impressed...
But why, right?
He went on to detail for Cocteau the grueling 36-year experience of repeatedly reliving his most traumatic moments while relentlessly searching for the passengers and pursuing Phoenix's capture.
Cocteau didn't seem all too interested in hearing Spartan's stated grievances; in fact, he tells him he still owes a debt to society.
REALLY NOW!
That was mind-shattering to hear those words spoken outwardly with such distaste.
Yet, the conversation pivoted to what Spartan highlighted...
How could anyone endure such a fate, confined in ice for such an extended period?
It appears they developed a strategy to cope with that challenge.
The following section will explore the mental tactics they employed to cope with such profound isolation...

Did They Have an AI Assistant That Taught Them Programmable Skill Sets?
How could they not?
Imagine being helplessly encased in a block of ice for decades—50, 75, or even 100 years or more!

"Well, Suffering Succotash! Yosemite Sam!"
Yeah, no doubt Sam would be shocked right out of his cowboy boots!
But consider the potential upside—how incredibly valuable that could be...
Just think about the wealth of knowledge you could absorb over time, with a voice constantly feeding you every detail you could ever desire and beyond!
This suggests both Spartan and Phoenix essentially became human sponges, soaking it all in.
Except for Phoenix, of course, who dropped that jaw-dropping remark to Spartan during their highway chase showdown!
He taunts Spartan by telling what he did with those bus passengers, saying...
"Remember those 40 bus passengers, that you blew apart trying to catch me?"
"They were already dead!"
"Cold as Haagen-Dazs!"
"Man, I went to jail with a 36-year-old smile!"
Yeah, Phoenix isn't exactly your model ex-cryo prisoner, that's for sure...
Ok, so right there tells you what else might have taken place while they were frozen on ice.
They might have had the ability to focus on a particular dream/memory sequence to a greater degree because while the body remains immobile; the brain can still wander!
Cocteau may have been briefed on ideas for "rehabilitation methods" as well.
SIDE NOTE: The entire idea here, however, mimics the events that took place after baby Clark Kent is jettisoned from Krypton, and the same went for his cousin Kara-El. Both were subjected to education "via" AI Jor-El & Lara Lor-Van for Clark, and for Kara it was her father Zor-El, and her mother Alura In-Ze who serve as her AI-teachers.
In fact, both of Kara's parents helped developed advanced AI systems back on Krypton (in one alternative reality version).
That included a very intuitive one called Vril-Dox (a.k.a the AI-villain "Brainiac") which was a hyper-intelligent, knowledgeable AI engine - [Supergirl Fandom].

And that mystical green crystal Clark comes across in Superman (1978), well, that isn't just the power source housing all of his capabilities.
It's also the power source for the AI that taught him in the small chrysalid ship while it was on its way to earth - {The Crystal of Knowledge Is An "AI-Tool" & It's Also Telepathic!}
It was a similar situation with his cousin Kara as well; that green crystal is no joke!
It's like Dr. Who's "Tardis" (the dark blue time-traveling police box) the crystal provides massive internal storage; an AI database of information and cinematic programmed holographic speakers—as shown when Clark talks to his deceased parents - [Jor-EL's 12-year talk] - [Lara Lor-Van talks with Kal-EL, about the consequences of giving up his powers].
It's also responsible for the structural creation of Superman's "Fortress of Solitude."
So, Cocteau had to have that in mind for Spartan, but more so for his mind control tool, Phoenix.
It's exactly why Phoenix could never kill Cocteau, because he was programmed not to; and that's not to mention how he reminds Phoenix that he needs to locate the Scraps resistance leader Edgar Friendly, and take him out - [Cocteau reminding Phoenix]
He's just a useful fool (as one time Communist leader Vladimir Lenin would see it), once someone serves him to the fullest, he will simply discard the useful idiot...
Cocteau would no doubt break his "Promise of Power" to Phoenix once everything is all said and done.
IT'S ALL FILLED WITH FAKE PROMISES!

Was Cocteau's Predictive Governance Similar to AI-Algorithms?
Raymond Cocteau’s outlook on governance, as thrown out in this cult classic action flick, spoke volumes of similarity to how society has been influenced by AI.
Demolition Man was just one of those movies that followed the progression of society for just over three decades (32 years to date).
It's just no denying how closely related our current AI-dominated world is.
The only slight difference, of course, is how pristine and tightly controlled his utopia is.
Then there's the stark difference of how out of control America has now become.
In Cocteau's San Angeles, crime has been wiped off the face of the city (or earth if you prefer) LOL.
But, if you jump online, or turn to a FOX News Channel; you're likely to see chaos and dissension running rampant—from Point A to Z and back!
Ok. But what did Cocteau have that he obviously wasn't willing to share with anyone else?
Logic would suggest he employed top-level computer experts, and no doubt some of the world's most cunning computer hackers.
Some of whom were placed on a secret payroll...
And with that AI-locator scanning the living daylights out of everyone's whereabouts at all times, it definitely gave him total control over citizens' lives.
So, the idea here he had was to simply starve out crime and chaos.
Now, that's not to mention his other idea, which was to impose that annoying foul language detector (that sounds off like an oversized bullhorn!)
Nevertheless, that AI-cussing detection system can track anyone saying any kind of 'BLEEP WORD'—well, they will automatically get a fine sent to them by e-mail, and an e-check, or e-Western Union wire, that must be sent back promptly before 12 midnight OR ELSE!
And how it knows where to send those dreadful e-tickets is by interacting with the algorithmic ID tracker that was signed by every citizen (as mentioned earlier).
The Scabs (a large resistance group) wondered whether or not the AI-system monitoring the people on the surface had psychic abilities.
LOL, they may have it confused with some type of AI-voodoo prediction power.
No, see, it's just nosy AI-tech designed to spy on whoever stands or roams within walking distance of it.

LOL. Hey, I gotta keep it interesting here folks!
Ok so, it looks like Cocteau had everything under lock and key, which had to somewhat worry citizens of San Angeles.
All in all, Cocteau's "Safety-Improved Society" AI setup looks quite spiffy on the outside.
However, deep within, it's completely gutted out, it's raw, and there's a messy side of humanity that's positioned within his "Ideal Utopia" but in reality—it's already damaged beyond repair!

The Idea of "Pre-Selecting" A Chaotic One; Phoenix Used as an Intentional Disruptor?
Well, think about it.
Phoenix was a complete psychotic nutcase!
Now, if there was a yearly "Criminal Awards Ceremony" event, he would win it hands down every time—GUARANTEED!
This guy has been committing acts of violence for far too long now.
So, he was the perfect candidate for Cocteau to exploit and indirectly control through the use of sophisticated artificial intelligence technology.
Honestly, all one has to do is offer a criminal like Phoenix some serious bid for power or massive compensation to commit heinous crimes for them.
A more effective approach to managing them is to offer incentives like structured amnesty or systematic exemptions.
The system in Demolition Man ensures that those in power evade accountability, shielding them from consequences no matter their actions. - [Webster's].
So, was this something Cocteau meant to unleash on his "Perfect Utopia Super City"?
That definitely suggests he's doing all of this to appease someone who is secretly controlling him.
Although the motives are unclear, there's obviously a bigger part of the plan that still needs to be injected into the equation.

The Parallel Between AI-Training Models & Forced Behavioral Rewiring
This movie undeniably presents evidence of AI-ingenuity.
There's special electro-magnetic rifle gun weaponry, a "cuss box" AI-system, where you can't ever swear unless you want to get fined into oblivion!
There was that infamous AI-tracking device, particularly the one Spartan takes out of the hands of a fellow officer and tosses away and says...
"Hey Luke Skywalker? Use the FORCE!"
Hilarious! Although, these were trained AI creations Cocteau needed for his grand plan for the establishment of dictatorial rule over all of San Angeles.
He also wanted people getting comfortable using technology (like it has been done in real-life for the past few decades now).
The specific angle of his sinister plot, was to create a situation where everything runs on a cash system that's heavily managed by an intrusive digital ledger.
This applies equally to other necessities, such as food and housing.
So, all money is digital, and it's the only thing that allows citizens to make such purchases.
And say if this digital-based infrastructure were to fail, where no one is able purchase anything—THAT WOULD QUICKLY RESULT IN TOTAL CHAOS!
Cocteau surely understood all of this, and that 's probably why he set harsh penalties in place in order to discourage others from planning a revolt.
With that said, he also felt it was necessary to keep criminals on ice not just because they may either attempt an escape, or become ridiculously disruptive.
No see, he took a page out of the playbooks of former dictators such as Yosef Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot, Nicolae Ceaușescu, Vladimir Lenin, Benito Mussolini, and Adolf Hitler.

No doubt there's many more that can be accounted for!
On a hypothetical level, he's definitely using AI-systems to maintain control of everything in San Angeles.
He also loves the high-level of praise and obedience he receives from his human subjects—which is given without question!
Even during his meetings with other political figures, or fellow colleagues, he would order his valet servant Bob; turn off the picture phone displays when the conversation came to an end.
At the end of day, Cocteau is all about molding others to serve him, for he possesses a fetish for being in total control!
He knows he's leading law-Biden citizens straight into a diabolical situation; where he looks to emerged as the supreme ruler at the expense of others.
He's also banking on his unethical "Behavioral Engineering" program, which is the driving force that helps him keep citizens obedient no matter what.
The program itself, operates slightly similar to a functioning AI-system.
It functions as a system that navigates vast datasets, identifying diverse thought patterns.
Meanwhile, humans undergo profound psychological conditioning.
So, he's looking to morph the Utopia his citizens are living into his eventual Dystopian Empire.
And the possible outcome he's banking on, is the elite who put him in office, will allow him to continue on running San Angeles as an imperial ruler!

Final Thoughts: About This Good Ol' Sci-Fi Action Packed Flick?
The originally intended core ideas behind this movie was this...
- It's a great action-packed cult classic
- Viewers are presented with fast-packed action
- The story is straight-forward that showcases the downfall of society
- Later, a figure emerges to step in as mayor who is tasked to rebuild 3 cities into a metropolis city
- A devious criminal who worked first unknowingly; then later unwillingly for a madman politician who had his sights set on establishing a totalitarian society
- A falsely accused and discarded old-school cop from the 90s, is tasked to basically save all of San Angeles—by any means necessary!
Taking a step back seeing the movie for what it truly is.
Well, it's obvious telling the viewer an action-packed story on the one hand.
However, for others, they may see that it's decently scripted; providing hints of what could be a blueprint layout for the future.
And people might not have realized it, but Demolition Man is very old cinematic idea concept.
Hence, the following details that is about to be dropped in your lap!
SIDE NOTE: Some of the concepts for the movie's script may have piggybacked off of previous TV shows and movie productions.
One that was popular back in the late 70s was "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century." - [Original Buck Rogers 1979 Intro]
The show was based off of Philip Francis Nowlan’s 1928 novella titled "Armageddon 2419 A.D."
The premise of the story kicks off with astronaut Anthony “Buck” Rogers, who boarded a projected space launch back in 1987.
An unexpected situation arises, and it result with Rogers getting stuck out in the frigid regions of space.
As a result, he enters in an cryogenically frozen for decades on end, during the course of missing time, Rogers misses so many changes back on earth.
Some 50 decades later, he was finally retrieved and revitalized in 2491!
The show used to come on Saturdays around noon in the late 80s, and it was a ok show.
Now, another clue that emulates reference to Demolition Man's script, was a 1928 novel written by Philip Francis Nowlan was titled "Armageddon 2419 A.D." - [Heathen Editions]
So, basically, the Buck Rogers TV series was a rip off a similar 1928 publication...
Also noticeable are the years, Rogers was brought back to life in 2491, Nowlan's novel points to the year 2419 AD—so, it was just a simple which around of the numbers.
And here young folks thinking the entire movie/TV shows rip-offs was something taking place in this present day.
LOL.
NOPE! It's been going on for thousands of years (well, that's for anything that was written or scribed on some type of material; television itself (including color variations of it was created by John Logie Baird in the late 1920s) - [Biography].
So, there you go, there was a lot of unpacked information about Demolition Man here today.
"Will things continue to press forward in this direction with AI, cryogenic preservation, and crazy dictators who want to rule the world?"
"Well, of course there will be more of that to come."
"But, one would think it's ultimately left up to the citizens living in this nation today, who will have to decide what to do in worry of an AI-dystopian future taking whole."
And yes...
Demolition Man was definitely about artificial intelligence being used to govern other the thoughts of mere humans.
From a candid viewpoint, all of this appears somewhat unsettling.
Especially, when you see how massive data is being collected.
And all it takes is just a "fractioned twist of reality," at the hands of Ai-ingenuity was something most of us never planned to see take shape—until now!

Thank you for your readership! 😄
